About.

Kyle Lehman is a Photographer/Cinematographer based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. His diverse background in different facets of the photography landscape, and his eye for intention is where he makes his mark known. His small-town midwestern work ethic has allowed his work to be featured on The Late Night Show with Steven Colbert, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin visiting his studio, and a sizable list of national publications using his content. Through traveling and documenting the country with some of the top up and coming rock bands, and his experience in the commercial sector working case studies for many different industries, Kyle has made a name for himself and his way of understanding and translating brand identity to most accurately portray the tone and intention of the subject, product or service.

Background

Growing up in rural Wisconsin I was surrounded by beautiful landscape and midwest family values, and it was both of these things that gave me a love and appreciation for identity and light.

Starting small, I began my career as a Tour Photographer, traveling across the USA photographing smelly dudes singing sad songs. Using my experience of touring, I garnered to help bands find their own brand identity, strengthening and defining their place, big or small, in the already saturated landscape of the music industry. It was through live concert photography that I began to travel, locally at first, but eventually nationally, over and over, and over again.  I fell in love with the road, documenting the ups and downs of travel, and the adrenaline of the live concert experience, contrasted by the not so glamorous reality of tour life.

In my travels I found that food was a big inspiration for me, which led me on an almost obsessive hobby of seeking out the best food and the moment to sit down appreciate a well cooked meal. Traveling allowed me to quickly gain insight on the different tones, cultures, and environments that all restaurants and businesses have, allowing me to learn to manipulate light, and objects to best convey the intention of the meal, and the atmosphere it came from.

The road is an exciting place that constantly inspires you to redefine your idea of normal, but what makes the road so enticing, can also burn you out. After years on the road I decided to return home and find work that would combine all of my experience in photography which landed me the position of working on the launch team for a brand new hotel which included a restaurant, bar, and coffee shop, all the centerpiece for the downtown revitalization movement in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

After the successful launch, and my additional time spent in the food and beverage industry I landed in the world of commercial photography. Today I spend the majority of my time documenting many fields including agriculture, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and business for medium to large scale companies.

Kyle and I have worked together many times over the past few years. I usually joke that I can’t make food that tastes as good as how Kyle makes it appear.
