When the idea came to me of shooting the festival solely on film I knew I needed some advice on what stocks I should pick for those low light, late night shows. I headed down to the local film supply shop (Sharp Photo) and picked up some packs of Fujifilm Superia and for the day time Portra 400. When it came to camera systems I needed a SLR to swap for wider lenses and a telephoto to reach the main stage. I had the option of shooting the Olympus OM2n or a old Canon Rebel Ti that my grandma gave me in highschool. To keep the family heirloom alive I definity chose the Rebel Ti. The reason behind this is I am a canon digital shooter with a variety of lenses and am able to shoot all my sigma glass and 70-200mm on this film camera.

The next camera I needed was something small light weight and able to be carried around when I didn't want to shoot that 1600 speed film. I ended up picking the Ricoh TF-500 which has been my preferred travel camera for the past few years. This camera is truly one of my favorite point and shoot cameras as it offers a 35mm f/2.8 lens and with a press of a button turns into a 70mm f/5.6 not only is the lense super sharp and quick to use the flash output is incredible! Massive spread this is super even. Plastic body so its lightweight and easy to wear around your neck and even fits in your back pocket. I wear super skinny jeans and it fits fine so no complaining bout that.

As far as boots on the ground and shooting the festival the whole mentality was to pop flash, get in and get out. Anything I saw it was direct flash and move quickly to the next shot. I didn't necessarily want to talk with people or influence them in any way. I wanted to capture there emotion right as it was happening.
